Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept referrals?
We’re happy to accept referrals from other dental offices as well as from recommendations by our patients to their family and friends. In fact, it’s the best compliment Dr. Carollo, Dr. Sufian, and their office can receive! We do request that a patient evaluation form be completed prior to the first visit; additionally, we ask that all recent records and X-rays be forwarded to our office.
How does Dr. Carollo keep up to date on all of the current techniques and materials?
Dr. Carollo subscribes to the latest industry journals to keep tabs on research and development in the dental industry. He also attends more continuing education seminars and conferences than required about several areas of interest, including implant dentistry and cosmetic reconstructive dentistry. Most importantly, Dr. Carollo lectures and teaches numerous classes about dental topics each year.
Can you show me what my smile can look like ahead of time with imaging software?
Absolutely! Dr. Carollo and Dr. Sufian have a vast patient library of every type of dental situation that they’re happy to share with you. Using digital photography, we can show you before and after results.
Do you accept my insurance plan?
Our office is a premier provider of Delta Dental, but we’re willing to work with any insurance company by filing your information for you. We do ask that patients understand the limitations of their own coverage and take responsibility for the portion of the bill that isn’t covered by insurance. Our fees are determined based on our time, materials, and overhead costs. We are well-versed in the latest coverage trends and are more than happy to discuss the particulars of your plan prior to any treatment you may undergo. Our financial coordinator will help you with all of your insurance and financial arrangements.
What do I do if I have an emergency when the office is closed?
Dental emergencies often happen at the worst possible times, and our team is well aware of that. Dr. Carollo and Dr. Sufian can handle after-hour patient emergencies if the need arises. Please call our office right away, even if we’re closed; the recording will give you an emergency number to call.
How can I whiten my teeth?
Dr. Carollo and Dr. Sufian offer safe whitening methods for you, which have all been researched by the American Dental Association and proven safe for tooth structure. Our Opalescence 1-Hour Boost Teeth Whitening Opalescence Night Tray System can provide beautiful results. Call our office for a complimentary teeth whitening consultation!
Can I get rid of these ugly, black fillings?
Yes! Silver fillings (also known as “amalgam”) are becoming a thing of the past. There are many ways to restore teeth with materials that virtually disappear and blend with the natural color of your teeth.
I had some crowns placed some time ago, and I noticed that now I have a dark line at the gum line. What can I do?
Many have patients have this complaint. Until recently, crowns were done one of two ways: gold, or “porcelain fused to metal.” The porcelain fused to metal crowns (or PFMs) have been the standard way to make a white (tooth-colored) crown for many years. The porcelain is baked onto a metal substructure, which was necessary in order to provide strength to the restoration. Unfortunately, it is difficult to mask out the dark color of the metal. The result is that the porcelain can look opaque or chalky. The margin of the crown (where the crown meets the tooth) has to be in metal, which is what causes the dark line syndrome. Dentists will often try to hide this underneath the gum line, but this results in the gum appearing dark, or even worse, creating an unattractive appearance when the gum recedes and the metal is exposed. Thankfully, we have a solution! Today’s all-ceramic (all-porcelain, Procera) crowns eliminate metal completely. That means you won’t have to experience darkness at the gum line ever again!
What makes Dr. Carollo’s office different than any other dental practice I could visit?
When you become a patient of our practice, we think of you as a person, not just another set of teeth to fix and clean. Our goal is to help you obtain and then maintain the best possible oral health. That’s why we take the time to understand your dental history and evaluate the best options for your particular dental needs by looking beyond surface problems and considering underlying issues that may cause issues down the road. We recommend long-term solutions and care so that your teeth and smile will last a lifetime.
